Overview

An Introduction

Gnomes, often collectively known as gnomanity, gnomefolk or gnomekind, are a small yet highly intelligent humanoid race, renowned for their technological prowess. Their lineage traces back to the metallic titan-forged beings known as mechagnomes, who were afflicted with the Curse of Flesh. These early gnomes eventually settled in Khaz Modan and established their capital, Gnomeregan, and allied themselves with the neighboring dwarves.

For a long period, their base remained in Gnomeregan, from where they offered technological assistance to the Alliance during the Second War. However, the peaceful existence was shattered when a trogg invasion coupled with internal betrayal led to a catastrophic event that irradiated their capital, causing the death of up to eighty percent of their populace. This tragedy forced the gnomes to seek refuge in Tinker Town, located in the dwarven capital of Ironforge. Following the Cataclysm, the gnomes made a partially successful attempt to reclaim Gnomeregan, subsequently establishing their base in New Tinkertown. Their unity was further strengthened after reconciling with the long-separated mechagnomes of Mechagon Island, which led to Gelbin Mekkatorque being crowned the king of all gnomes, marking the reunification of their race after centuries of separation.
